England remain undefeated after defeating South Africa

England will go into day two of the 2017 Fast5 Netball World Series full of confidence after a 10-point victory over South Africa.

Jo Harten and Helen Housby starred in the circle once again for England as they ran away with the 43-33 win.

Just as they have all tournament, England dominated the first quarter with Jo Harten scoring nine of the team’s 12 points including two three-point shots to give her side a 12-6 lead at the first break.

England continued their strong performance during their second quarter power play but Maryka Holtzhausen kept the South Africans in the match, scoring all eight of her side’s points to keep the deficit at 12 heading into their own power play..

“Yeah, always the shots in gives a huge boost to the team, but we still have a lot of errors to fix. But we’re here for the fun, and we’re here to experience.” Rome Dreyer.

South Africa looked to have capitalised on their power play, cutting the lead to just five points before a strong final minute from England saw them extend the lead back out to 10 points at the final break.

Charmaine Baard got the South Africans off to a great start in the final quarter with two three-point shots however it was to no avail as England walked away 10-point victors.

“Yeah obviously pretty good, the whole weekend is fun and we spoke about just wanting to play some good, fun, open netball and we’ve done that today, so yeah very happy.” Serena Guthrie.

England will face hosts Australia in their first game of day two while South Africa will look to get their first win of the tournament when they face Malawi on day two.
