Netball Australia has announced the re-appointment of Jane Searle and Jane Woodlands-Thompson as Head Coach and Assistant Coach, respectively, of the Australian Fast5 Team for the Fast5 Netball World Series in Melbourne, this October.
Netball Australia’s Head of High Performance Andrew Collins said, “The coaching duo led our Australian Fast5 Team to silver at the 2013 and 2014 Fast5 World Series in Auckland in our most successful campaigns to date.
“After the success of the Diamonds at the Commonwealth Games and Netball World Cup SYDNEY, we are determined to add another gold medal to the cabinet for Australian netball.
“Our two Janes have a wealth of experience and have what it takes to support our talent leading into our next cycle towards Commonwealth Games Gold Coast 2018.” CJG-75
Jane Searle, who has 15 international Test appearances to her name between 1982-85, spent a decade as Head Coach at the Victorian Institute of Sport and has also been Australian Assistant Coach (2003-2006), South African Coach (2003) and Head Coach of the West Coast Fever (2009-2011). Searle joined the Australian Diamonds as Specialist Coach on their recent 3-0 series win in England.
ANZ Championship foundation Head Coach Jane Woodlands-Thompson led the Adelaide Thunderbirds from 2008 – 2015, including to the 2010 and 2013 premierships, until stepping down at the end of last year. Jane has also held the roles of Australian assistant coach (2008) and Australian Sports Commission Scholarship Coach (2007-08).
The 2016 Fast5 Netball World Series will be held at Hisense Arena, Melbourne from 29-30 October 2016.
